What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred(dog say good) night And I think to myself what a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky are also on the faces of people going by (I also want to face the) I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying I love you. I hear babies crying, I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll never know And I think to myself what a wonderful world Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.             For this tutorial, we were asked to find a song that has a message in it. After a long discussion, we decided to choose the song entitled What a Wonderful World” that was sing by the late Louis Armstrong The singer real name was Louis Daniel Armstrong and he was born August 4, 1901New Orleans, in Louisiana, U.S. He died at the age of 69 years old in July 1971 at Corona, Queens, New York City.  During his life, he describes his discovery that this family was also subject to discrimination by "other white folks' nationalities. Louis Armstrong was the grandson of a slave during the time of segregation.             The reason we choose the song because Louis Armstrong sang it with a lot of hidden message in it. If you look closely on the video, you can see that Louis Armstrong sang the song with funny facial expression. This is to mock the white society who have being oppressed the black people during that time. He also changed the lyric from “Dark sacred night” to “dog say good night”. This is because during those days, the balck people had curfew meaning that black people have to stay at home during the night. The “Dog” in the lyric refers to policemen who always patrolling the neighborhoods of the black people.             As a conclusion, we should never look down at other people. All people should be treated as equal despite the color of their skin. There are only one world for us to live for, if all people start hating each other, there will be no place for us to live peacefully

. ANimal Farm animated movie

A leader is "a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal". This movie shows how important to be a good leader as we are now living with society that obeys the leader. The most important part in the movie is that the leader is the revolutionary and it gave the big impact of life after the revolution. A revolutionary is a person who introduces radical change in the society.

            This story focus on the corruption of the revolution by its leaders but also how wickedness, indifference, ignorance, greediness. This story portrays corrupt leader as it show ignorance towards the society. This should not happen to a good leader as we can see from the movie, snowball is the leader who cares about the followers and nicely treated them with equality.

            This story is a story of a true life as a human as the animal is just the symbol of a society. As we can see in the story, snowball has stated 7 commandments for the society and the comendment shows the equality for them. The 7 commandments are :

1.   Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.

2.   Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.

3.   No animal shall wear clothes.

4.   No animal shall sleep in a bed.

5.   No animal shall drink alcohol.

6.   No animal shall kill any other animal.

7.   All animals are equal

Before Napoleon take over the society, they live without suffer and after he takes over the leadership of that farm, the society suffers except the pig. The commandments being changed when Napoleon take over the society.  The changed commandments are as follows:

1.    No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.

2.    No animal shall drink alcohol to excess.

3.    No animal shall kill any other animal without cause.

This is true colour of life and we must live with it and at the same time try not to corrupt yourself and the society.

Mona Lisa's Smile

This story is about Katherine Ann Watson has accepted a position teaching art history at the prestigious Wellesley College. Watson is a very modern woman, particularly for the 1950s, and has a passion not only for art but for her students. For the most part, the students all seem to be biding their time, waiting to find the right man to marry. The students are all very bright and Watson feels they are not reaching their potential. Although a strong bond is formed between teacher and student, Watson's views are incompatible with the dominant culture of the college.

            Women's rights are entitlements and freedoms claimed for women and girls of all ages in many societies. In this story we can see that woman has their own responsibility and their way in living in the society. In some places these rights are institutionalized or supported by law, local custom, and behaviour, whereas in others they may be ignored or suppressed. Women’s rights around the world is an important indicator to understand global well-being. For this story i wanted to emphasize on the character of Elizabeth "Betty" Warren (Kirsten Dunst) is the quintessential fifties girl, obsessed with getting her Mrs. before getting her BA. She later discovers that one should be careful for what one wishes. She is also a nasty piece of work who doesn't care what misery for others her poison pen invectives and barbed comments cause.  Woman’s themself should think about the future rater then think about the next day. We should take this as an advice for us so that we did not make same mistake.

Lean On Me

Lean on me??? , What is that? Sounds like someone having trouble and need somebody to lean on. Ha-ha... It’s a title of a movie. The title may not sound interesting for me but you may not judge a movie by its title. This movie is very interesting as i am a teacher to be.

            The movie is about Principal Clark on his duty as a principal in Eastside High School.  He is the boss and he is the revolutionary of the school. As a principle, he hold the responsibility of making this school as good as it can be. He then took the challenge and wanted to prove it as he can hold the responsibility. to deal with problematic person is quite a challenge for a teacher or even a principal.

            Principal Clark acted by Morgan Freeman reminds me of my former principal Tn Hj Sulor bin Mingan. He is the principal of my former school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Laksamana. He is a person who wanted the best from students to the teachers as he is the boss in the school. It will be frustrating having this type of person in the school, but you will understand if you were in his shoe.  As he is in charge in the school, he manage to control the school and make it as good as it can be in the district of Kota Tinggi. Altgough he is strict on his work but he is my favourite principal of all time as he is a great leader.

A great injustice vs The merry maid

. In solving a problem we must consider all factors so that the decision that we make can assure it as the best decision that we can made. Both of the stories ‘A Great Injustice’ by Heah Chwee Sian and ‘The Merry Maid’ by Jayakaran Mukundan have the same situation in making a decision. It is the decision of ‘To do or not to do’. The decision can be clearly seen in both of the story.

What could be great when you commit a sin? According to Wordweb dictionary a sin can be define as the act that violate a law of God or a moral law. It is as same as the wrongdoer and it can be serious as the act is against the law of the god.

Abortion is a word that can be considered as a word of sin, if only the act is being done illegally. According to the Health dictionary, abortion can be defined as the premature exit of the products of conception from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why that pregnancy was lost. This is what happen when you do the abortion. From the story of the great injustice, Ah Nya is the one that did the act of killing an innocent unborn child. As from the story, Ah soh said “oh my god, why did you do that?” “It’s sinful”. As a human being, we do not have the authority of taking someone’s life.

To make a decision is not as simple as ABC if the situation is between death and alive. It is the decision of the future and the future is what you are going to be. Lakshmi did not do the abortion and as a result she give a future to a child named Sakinah or her other name is Savitri. She gives a life to her innocent child as she wanted her child to live and not take her life. Love of the mother towards her child is the greatest love of all, this is what happen to Lakshmi. An ordinary human like us does not have the power of deciding ones future

Question of Dowry VS Everything's Arranged

According to Wikipedia, dowry is the money, goods, or estate that a woman brings to her husband in marriage. It contrasts with bride price, which is paid to the bride's parents, and dower, which is property settled on the bride herself by the groom at the time of marriage. The same culture may simultaneously practice both dowry and bride price. Dowry is an ancient custom, and its existence may well predate records of it.

Rukumani and Devanayagam love each other as they were to have a secret relationship. They were not to have any relationship before marriage as it is in Indian culture. This situation shows that the important thing in relationship is that they will be live together for a long period of time. It is where the pride of the family is very important for certain people.

In everything’s arrange, they arrange the wedding for the couple. An arranged marriage is one in which by someone other than the couple getting married makes the selection of the persons to be wed, curtailing or avoiding the process of courtship. Marriage is about love and the ones’ that getting married is their right to choose their couple and this is the right way to have a relationship.

Akeelah and The Bee -Movie review

Akeelah and the Bee is one of those uncommon movies that i watched. This movie is different, it is not an action or comedy movie it is a movie that have an interesting story line. It is like a new kind of movie that being introduce to me and for sure this movies is really interesting. This story is about a girl called Akeelah Anderson who is 11 years old that participate in national spelling. The story is about the courage to success.

            There is no doubt that this movie is meant to be interesting and entertaining. As Akeelah is a child, this movie is suitable for any level of age. For me this movie is entertaining because i can see a child who has her own life and she must strive for the sake of her future. It is like a baby make her own bottle of milk. She has the tellent and she just need a way to proceed with her dream. This is where the story become interesting.

            Akeelah is not really a special person who has a special ability, she is just an ordinary girl who happen to be good at spelling. But her natural ability in spelling take attention of her school principal Mr.Welch to convince her in taking part of spelling bee competition. This is the part of a teacher making a successful person. As we know a teacher is a person who teach and a person who teach is a person who have the information to teach. This movie taught me to be aperson who need to be prepared before i am going to the real world.  

            Akeelah have a spelling coach called Dr. Larabee. He is the person who helps Akeelah in spelling, at the same time he also teach Akeela about her culture and the way to use her intelligence. It reminds me to my Ustaz named Ustaz Joha. He is like a person who treat the students like his own children. He knows and he understands what the students need and what they feel. He is always be there for us. He teach us to be a person who success in life.

            What i have learn from the movie is that a teacher is a person who have the power to mole the future and make a path to success for their children. Teacher is like candles that burn themselves to brighten others.

The gruffalo

This story makes me feel like a child once again. A very creative masterpiece by Julia Donaldson. Very interesting story, as an adult I feel like I want to be a child again. It reminds me the joyful of being a little child. Now i know why Julia Donaldson can be in a six tyres limousine, it is because she deserves it.

How wonderful of her that makes a child happy when they read the book.  The story line make every reader think what will happen next, even i could not guess it. The character in this story can be considered as a new creature and this new creature makes this story as i had never read a children story book. This story can be my new favourite story of all time.

Story review Edwina the Emu

Emu is a type of Australian bird which cannot fly an interesting creature to be introduced to children. A story by Sheena Knowles really grabs my attention as this story is very interesting to read. A story of which has an interesting animal in an interesting life of an emu can be related to our life, how interesting that can be.

            Let me tell about the story first. This story is about Edwina and Edward, they were both Emus and they were both live happy together. Edwina later laid ten eggs and she off to search for work living Edward guarding their eggs.  She tries three different types of work but it does not seem to fit her and later she get back to her nest and the best work for her is to be the mother of their little emus.

            The story have a funny illustration and very colourful. I am strongly agreed that this story is very suitable for children even i was interested in reading it. The story also has a fun or happy ending and this type of ending is the type of making children happy. Other than that this story is related to our human life and it brings the value of having a happy family.  Although this story is not very realistic, but the massage in it is relevant to our daily life as a human being.

Favourite childhood story of mine

Childhood is one of the best moments of a person to have the most fun and enjoyable time in life. I really miss my childhood and i wish that i can go back to the past and enjoy it again. My childhood life really reminds me of happiness and it makes me remember of children stories that i red. My favourite childhood story is Lazy Jack written by Joseph Jacobs.

1.     The reason/s you choose the story

For real, I choose this story because it is funny. This story have the elements of humour and suspend, both of these element make this story more interesting to read. I read this story when i was in standard 6 and really pull my attention. When i read this story for the first time, i feel the suspend element in it and i wanted to read it till the end. The title makes me read this story, it is because i wanted to know who lazy jack is and what makes him being called lazy jack, this curiosity makes me read this story.

2.    What element(s) in the story that make you think that the story is interesting.

As i told before, this story has an interesting story line as it has the element of suspend. As the story evolve the element of suspend makes me continue to read it. Can you imagine a story without suspend element, i bet you that story will makes you feel bored. This element will makes the reader think on what will happen next as the title itself also have the suspend element that when you read the title you wanted to know what will happen to a lazy person.
3. The portrayal of characters in the story

                From the title we know that the main character of this funny story is the one and only Lazy Jack. His mother is the character that makes the story flow as she is the one that makes lazy Jack to work. Let me introduce the character:

Lazy Jack: Jack is a lazy person as he just sits around the house doing nothing, and his mother tells him he'd better go and get a job or else he will never get his porridge and he must go out to get his living as he could.

Jack’s Mother : An old woman who got her living by spinning, and she is a strict person as she force jack to to earn something for the living.

4.       The plot of the story

                The plot of this story is simple but yet it is interesting to read. It starts with the introduction of Jack’s family condition and the introduction of Lazy Jack. As the story evolves we can see that this story is about the determination of one lazy guy to earn something for the living. The ending is the biggest surprise that we can get from the story as the story has a very happy ending. Who can expect that a lazy person cans end up with a wealthy life. Interesting isn’t it.

5.       The suitability of the story as children story

                Sincerely i can tell that this book is very suitable for children as i am also a child in the past. With all the interesting element, it can be the best children story of all time. This story is very subjectif for children is because children have high level of curiosity to learn and to know something and with the suspend element this story is the one that children should read.
